CD release party Oct 12

Tracie Potochnik and G.W. Mercure will mark the release of their debut albums with a joint CD Release Party and Hootenanny on October 12th at The Mediator Stage, 50 Rounds Avenue, Providence, RI, 02907.

The Dream is Potochnik’s longawaited debut, recorded at Dirt Floor Recording Studio in Chester, Connecticut and produced by Eric Lichter. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Potochnik is a rising star on the Rhode Island singersongwriter circuit. She was a double nominee in the 2013 Motif Music Awards (Americana Songwriter and Female Americana Vocalist). She is noted for applying simple arrangements and delicately crafted narratives to songs exposing the complexity of the human condition.

Mercure, who recorded two albums with roots act The Benedictions, will release his solo debut with the selfproduced Kitchen Hymns. A young veteran of the Rhode Island music scene, Mercure, originally from Woonsocket, brings the scars and breaks of life into his songs of doubt, mortality, love, and myth. He was nominated for Best Songwriter in 2012 by Motif Magazine and was the winner, with The Benedictions, of Best Roots Act in the 2010 Providence Phoenix Best Music Poll.

The pair met at the 2010 Four Corners Season KickOff Concert at The Mediator. Since then, they have performed together informally and formally, including dates at The Mediator, The Brooklyn Coffee and Tea House, and The Sunset Music Series in Newport. The Dream and Kitchen Hymns will be released simultaneously on October 12th at a concert and hootenanny at The Mediator Fellowship on the Providence/Cranston line. Special guests from throughout the local music scene will join the pair during their performances, including Heather Rose, Frank Martyn, Bill Michalski, and a reunion of the recently folded Benedictions. The evening will end with a hootenanny in which all guests are invited to participate. Refreshments will be served, and admission will be a $5.00 suggested donation. The doors will open at 7PM, and the show will begin at 7:30 PM.

The Mediator Fellowship is a BYOB venue.
